Bert Baumgaertner is an associate professor of philosophy. His research interests are in social epistemology, philosophy of science and opinion dynamics. His research draws from social psychology and computational modeling to understand how psychological and sociological processes combine to produce phenomena such as echo chambers, polarization and consensus.
